To all who went to SIBS.

I did not take many but here is what I have.

I must say I was impressed by the Benny 34 Swift Trawler

Same hear liked the look and quality of the swift 34 a lot. Just a couple of issues, one the side saloon door opens straight out to the opening for side entrance and the directors chairs for guests.

I tried hard to find fault with it but have to say for an early model I was impressed. There are already some minor mods planned I understand from the Benny dealers we were talking to.

Carl and photographer were on board and if my ears did not mistake me will trial it in the next fortnight. It will be interesting to see what MBM think of the handling which of course is a test we could not do on Saturday!

Can we have some photos please?

Al.:D

Didn't take my camera just a phone which I hate to use,so there's only 5,

first stop, and no Dan!

these were all taken today, and business was brisk lots of people around, not too crowded though,

Best stand, goes to, Wealth Management consultants, two guys behind desks with no customers, needless to say I didn't need to talk to them about any wealth problems I might have, other than the lack of it! wealth management indeed!

As mentioned in another post, the fast food vendors are making the most of a captive audience, save one guy, the regular ice cream man who works at the park year round, his double cone 99 was still the normal price, you didn't need your mortgage adviser with you to pay for it.

If you are going to spend £8.00 on a greasy burger, then my advice is go to the Holiday Inn Hotel, they were offering Sirloin steak and chips with wine, £16.95, proper sit down nosebag, with table cloth, cutlery and everything.

Today was just a reccy, tomorrow going to see what electronic goodies I can get below internet prices, and I'll take my camera with me Al. more/ better pics tomorrow.

Those pics are excellent thanks, you must have a hell of a good phone camera.

Did that SS130 have the extendable balcony on the port side too?

Thanks again for the pics, I'll look forward to any more, thanks.

Cheers

Al.
PS, Can't get to grips with your new ID name, how many times have you changed it now!!!???

Okay Al, as its you asking :)

Show was reasonably busy (more so than the weekend according to some of the exhibitors) with a general feeling that things were moving a bit. I saw the Elling folks who tried to persude me that 'doing the carribbean' is perfectly possible on an E3 (even though they did it with an E4) - but I'm not convinced I want to do that trip on a motorboat unless its much much bigger!

Some of the Sealine F46 which I quite liked, and I definitely prefer the white engines over the green.

From the other side, Lagoon 620. Could have played tennis on the flybridge on this monster.

A couple from the Swift Trawler 34. It has the right number of engines (a single) and of the right colour (white) - but didn't do it for me I'm afraid.

Some others...

Many thanks Rick, Your pics make the F46 and Lagoon look massive.

Can't help but feel that if you are sitting at the dinette having lunch or dinner, you don't really have much of a view out, apart from upwards!

Is that jb in a few of those pics?
He likes his trawlers, I have a pic of him at the helm of a Benny last year too. :D

Did he put a deposit down on a Leader 9 or 10? :D

Many thanks indeed,

Cheers

Al.

Well, they were quite large, but the wide-angle lens helped somewhat.

As to the F46 dining area, its only the same as the F43 and we never felt like it was a problem. You could always use the saloon, cockpit or massive flybridge instead. I was more curious how they'd make it into an effective 3rd cabin - its okay putting a screen up as you can on the SC47, but what about the open ceiling?

Jez and I met up in the carpark and did the show together. Neither of us put any large money down on anything other than lunch and dinner ;)

The Leader 10 is a nice boat - think Prestige34 with a better hull/HT arrangement. Rear cabin is very poky, think SC29 rather than SC35 and as for price, either the UK importers are havinh a lugh with their margins or your Euro figures are a bit off. I was quoted £200k for the 10 with D4s, and that was before getting heavy with the options list.

By the time I had put a few basics on, it was more like £212k

Rather have an SC35 with its huge aft cabin and the same lumps for £185k (which was the figure yesterday). I prefered the cocpkit on the Jeanneau to be honest, but the tiny aft cabin and big price tag makes it a no-no.

Ah, I thought he'd not come yesterday! I was waiting for him to pitch up at the stand. Didn't see either of you go past yesterday.

Oh, sorry! Forgot to come and see you (and loads of other things really). Very random approach to the day, but we enjoyed it. Jez was considering about going back another day, but I can't afford the time :(

wow that is expensive to what I saw in Italy
yes the aft cabin is the same as the Prestige 34 which was its defect in the end
but I expected slight improvements as it is on fact 15 cm wider
agree on the cockpit though, looks Sealine have slashed the SC35 price too, is very competitive now altough not much to my liking after seeing one for real...
here is the Italian price with included VAT http://www.mondialbroker.com/boat.taf?B=204092&K=SRC with D4s 260hp

It still amazes me that you spend a cool 2/3 million on a boat and get B&Q type kitchen unit hinges to support the hatch, albeit probably in stainless steel.

And there's more

Bit of yachty elegance

I spoke to this guy and asked what's 1050hp good for 65kts?, answer 75-80kts who's the customers going to be? drug runners? no, the armed forces, spec is up to 12 men and kit payload of 5.5 tonnes top speed with this cargo 55kts range 300nm, I still think drug runners, 2 men 1/2 a tonne of coke 75kts;-)

boatshow09028.jpg

The thing that struck me about this years show was the amount of different ribs, they felt as if they outnumbered everything else 2 to 1 almost an infestation

Weather up here has been brilliant for a week now, no rain what so ever!!:p

Thanks again.
