I hope forumites will not object to me drawing attention to important changes in the management of the Thames MotorBoaters Association (TMBA)

Following consultation with members, which indicated clear support for moving to an elected management structure and the introduction of a small membership fee, the TMBA will now become a subscription based Association.

Existing and new members paying before 31st December this year can enjoy membership until the end of 2014 for a reduced subscription of £5.00 (£10 from 1st January 2014).

Further details can be found on the relevant pages of the TMBA website - www.tmba.org.uk

The TMBA is unique as an organisation in solely representing power boaters on the non-tidal Thames. Now that we know the management of the river will remain with the EA for the foreseeable future, and with further reductions in government grant aid already announced, it is more important than ever that we take every opportunity to safeguard our interest in the future management of the river.

If you are not already a member please take a look at the website and consider joining us. Do it today !

Couldn't find the burgee option. I've lots of stainless and nothing to hang from it apart from the forum one.

Afraid there is no burgee option. As we are purely a representational association and not a club it seemed inappropriate, somehow - at least to me!

Happy to consider perhaps a small rectangular flag if enough peeps would like one but these things are not so cheap unless you order a significant quantity.

Anyways, thanks to all of you that have already shown support by paying the fee. Its only three or four days since I announced the new arrangements and already over 20% of members have responded, in many cases also ordering the stickers which will help to advertise our existence.

(PS - 'twas I that 'designed' the forum burgee as a joke quite a few christmases ago !)

Maybe you would get more members if a free sticker was supplied on first registration. I had never heard of the TMBA till I stumbled upon this forum. 8 years on the Thames.

Until we introduced the membership fee about a week ago membership was free and funded entirely out of my own pocket with the exception of sticker sales. I could only give stickers away at my own personal expense so they are chargeable.
i have been very pleased to see how many have ordered stickers when paying the reduced price subscription that applies until 31st December. However, from 1st January the full subscription will include two free stickers - one for each side of the boat.

Membership of the TMBA is open to any individual owning a motor boat registered with the Environment Agency for use on the Thames and is, currently, free. Anyone can read site content but you must register as a member before you can participate in discussion or request information.

Website content still needs updating (11.30 on 13th Sept)
