Reading the tips in the October 'Sketchbook', there are two versions of 'tipping anchor rollers. The comment on 'I' is, 'There are many types of tipping anchor rollers to help anchors self-stow'. Are these 'many types' all home made? I cannot even find one mention of them in Google. Any idea where one can be found or must I find a metal worker to make me up one?

I found the idea a good one as it is extremely difficult to get our Bruce anchor up without it swinging and bashing the stem.

Looking forward to all the helpful replies!

As Vyv suggests try "hinged" or "articulating/ed" [dual] rollers, not "tipping".

They're not necessarily going to help you, although they are essentially designed for the likes of the Bruce. The intent is more to help them self-launch, not self-stow, by tipping the anchor forward.

My point is, if you are having problems with the anchor's behavior, the rocking aspect is probably not the entire solution. Try a larger diameter roller and get it farther away from the stem. A swivel might help depending on what's happening.

Hinged bow rollers also suffer from strength issues, with the leverage on the joint. You shouldn't leave the rode deployed over it, run a snubber through a fairlead.
