I am sure all the forum members who can strip and engine etc will know about this, but there may be others, like me, who find it difficult to work out the oil level on the dip stick as the oil is so colourless.

A mechanic recently told me to put the dipstick against a piece of paper so that the the oil goes onto the paper. It is then very easy to see how far up the stick the oil is.

Sorry if I am the only one who did not know this
