Tinker Contortions

Hello Luvvies, Happy New Year.....

I have bought a 1993 Tinker Star Traveller, which is 12ft of writhing plywood and Hypalon.
The blurb says that this block of obnoxious resistant material should restfully arrange itself into a 45x21x13 space when so commanded.
My calculations for the purchase of this beast were all made around available cockpit locker area, which seemed ample.
Thus was the loot handed over, and the thing bundled into the back of the truck.

As they seemed to be both popular and successful with the sailing masses, I thought I might ask the knowledge base if they know of either the method to pack this object frugally, or have access to a set of diagrams or photos.

Anyone have any other ownership horrors they wish to apprise me of before I plonk this thing in the water and sail off?

Get swmbo to help you with this one....

Place mouth on valve and suck the air out of it. When you have sucked all you can, your 'helper' creeps up behind with two bricks -you remember the camel jokes - and applies them smartly to your dangling bits. The resultant suction should reduce the boat to the specified dimensions. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Alternatively buy the LVM dinghy inflator cause it can also be rigged as a deflator and will willingly suck the air out without the necessity of the two bricks.

PS the LVM is fantastic for de-flation, expensive but good

Oh dear I'm going to start the New Year in just the wrong way - with a serious answer. The thing can be packed into a remarkably small space. The standard pump will also act as a deflator, get all the air out and then replace the valve. If you don't the bloody thing will breathe in agaim. Fold the sides towards the middle, lift the aftermost joint and roll it forward. Continue rolling then lift the bow section over the rolled mass. Tie it up very quickly before it has a chance to retaliate. Job done!
