Just had to replace the house batteries on board, two Alphaline XV 110 AH feeling vaguely disappointed at their demise so soon, although I do recall once or twice accidentally flattening them by leaving the boat and failing to turn off main isolator with the fridge left on!
Anyway I was amazed to see that my batteries were actually marked as Fitting Date 04 / 2015. I know these would have been a 4 year warranty from Tayna. I certainly did not pay Rolls Royce prices for them so I think I have actually done pretty well.
I had been vaguely toying with the idea of going for Lithium but with the faf of new chargers etc decided against it. Two further good reasons to stay with the same, the moulded battery boxes only fit this low height option and at just under £150 for two including carriage I would be better spending my boat tokens elsewhere. Slight cheat on the new Powerline batteries they headline as 110 AH but this is only on a really slow 100 hour discharge, on the normal 20 hour they rate 100AH. I was fortunate that my purchase coincided with Tayna offering the batteries through ebay at about £25 each lower than on their own website.
No wind generator, no solar panels, occasional plug in to shorepower and 10 year lifespan, I think I am a pretty lucky guy.
