I'm about halfway down the Adriatic coast (Marche region) of Italy. Does anyone know where to find larch, white oak, and other boatbuilding timbers? Shame to import it if it's available locally.
Do you really want those timbers? I'd be asking the locals what they use, which is usually Turkish Aleppo Pine and cedar, I believe. As a general rule use what the locals use. If you came to build a boat here in southern Australia, you would find a wonderful collection of timbers of which you have never heard. Local timber is expensive enough, but imported timber is usually even more so.
Peter.
Here is some links from an Italian joiner friend of mine , im not sure if they are any good because i cant read Italian .

Point taken about using local timber. There is a big sawmill nearby. I have bought timber from them for a building frame and molds. Good prices. Thanks.
