The project is now under way. This means that the new pier and yacht wall are dangerous places to be due to logs being stacked there.

The pier is made safe 1/2 hour before and after the scheduled CalMac ferry.

I remember a previous timber harvesting episode on Eigg, many years ago. Logs were piled up on the old slip. There came a big tide, and lo and behold, the Eiggites discovered that wood floats.

Red Princess visits Arran as well for the same purpose.
At least on Eigg they aren't considering moving timber with trucks on a Calmac Ferry??
That happens at times on Arran. Quite why I do not know as the economics of putting a low value load on a truck on an expensive ferry do not make much sense?

It may depend on where the timber is going. If somewhere local needs a load it'll go by HGV anyway, whether it starts in a forest or on a ship.
