Need to extend the handle on a Yamaha 2B 2hp outboard, so I can sit in the middle of my dingy, As the handle is flat, I thought of flitting a suitable size piece of copper pipe, by shaping it flat on the handle, leaving one round end to fit a wooden shaft into, What have others done in the past, or a better idea than mine.

I have a piece of rubber reinforced hose over the round tiller of my old Johnson. I don't know if it would distort successfully to a flat tiller. good luck olewill

I've got a short length of rigid water pipe that I have split. This slides onto the circular plastic handle on the Yamaha and is sufficiently rigid to allow it to steer. I keep meaning to find a bit of pipe that will slide on without the need for the split. Has your Yam not got the circular hand grip?

Made a mistake, it's just a flat metal arm no controls with a 22mm round handle 150 mm long. Going to investigate metal tube with that diameter, sitting at the rear of the dingy raises the bow to high, also with just the short handle its quite twitchy to control direction, well it is to me.

Found one now, on order, extends from .600 to 1.100 m. Just the job, for £26 not bad for the money, comes with additional rubber strip to increase diameter, the rubber strip will need some tape on it first, then push on the handle and clamp it down.
