Tightening marine exhaust hose from generator to muffler

Hello gents ! This question might sound stupid but neverthrless ...

I noticed my exhaust hose to muffler of my genset is leaking a bit so i went down to tighten it up but ... failed .

That vetus marine hose is so rigid that even with my best clamp i cannot tighten it up to make it really watertight .

Any ideas what the trick is ? Muffler and hose is ok , no cracks etc .

What type of hose clamp do you have? Is it a normal Jubilee type or a bolt clamp type? If it's a Jubilee change it for a bolt clamp from your local hydraulics supplier.

Normal jubilee . The bolt type is a good idea i might try but i,m asking myself if its just a question a raw force clamping a vetus marine exhaust hose

Bolt clamps should be the standard fitting for most exhausts. The difference in clamping pressure is substantial and will solve your problem. Get one from the hydraulics supplier, not the chandlers and the price will be about a quarter for the identical make and model of clamp.

Could you nor seal as well ,also fit co2 and smoke alarm

The bolt clamp indeed did the trick ! Everything is tight again .

Also handy to use exhaust paste before clamping it back down
