Had to ask this last year and unfortunately not learned but need to know asap highest springs April 2005 (home port Galway) so can book flights around this.
Not too skinflint to buy almanac but once more totally unprepared.

By the way, is subscribing to a website any substitute for Reeds?

I agree but today went into the only place within 50 miles of me that used to sell almanacs and they said 'nobody buys those anymore. They all get the info online.'

While on my RYA course I purchased the Belfield 'Tide Plotter' CD, I think it was only around £6 and has all the 2005 tides for England, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, France, Belgium & Netherlands.

For what it cost it is really good value.

Belfield Tide Plotter

I've used it for a few years now, £10 approx. Find it better than any of the others I've tried.
Appart from printing of the entire years tides, I always print the graphs before going to the boat.
Also loaded it onto my PDA and Laptop so have got it with me on the boat.

Do a search on the internet for WX tides, its free and will give you tide times and heights for almost anywhere for ever and is pretty accurate.

Tide Tables for the world

Download from www.pangolin.co.nz, Tidecomp and you can use it for nowt for the 1st 30 days - it gives you the tides for the whole world until 2023.

If you want to buy it it costs $29.29.

With plenty of 7-harmonic engines around which give results within 20 mins and .02 of a metre of the Admiralty tables I'm not surprised no one bothers to consult a printed tide-table.

Re: Belfield Tide Plotter

The UKHO SHM programme (£36) works forever and very tidily, though one does have to enter the harmonic constants (from a not-necessarily-current version) of the ATT. Gives nice plots, maps, moon phase etc.
