I have a Lowrance iFinder running Nauticpath.
Users will know this has a facilitity to show tides times and heights as well as tidal flows.
The tidal heights and times are found using the 'T' symbols on the chart.

However , comparing these to say tidal data found on Wiley or other sources , I find them in error.
I have compared Wiley to my app on my Iphone and other sources , they all agree pretty well.

However , if i use the the iFinder i note that whilst the trend is the same , ie. they both show a rising tide at the same time , the times and heights vary considerably , like about 2hrs error in the time of a HW and a meter or two in height.

I will investigate further and contact Lowrance but in the meantime is this a known problem ?

Searching I can find some evidence of Nauticpath errors and Lowrance not being too bothered to fix it but nothin definative.

Nauticpath

Like you I have found errors, but not as much as two hours; usually they are about an hour in terms of time, although I must confess that I have never checked the heights as I don't rely on them at all.

I wish you luck with your attempts to discuss any thing with Lowrance when I pointed out that part of the chart of the River Thames near Tilbury was missing they could not have been less interested. Out of interest that was nearly five years ago, but I notice on the electronic charts they were selling last year as updated, they were still missing, but hey River Thames, probably a river no one has ever heard of!

the nauticpath tidal info is well known to have errors, friend mentioned it to me a couple of years ago whilst using his 3500c... I would have thought that they would have been corrected by now, obviously not important enough to bother with....

Lowrance had a fix on their website for this - it involoved deleting a file from the chip and downloading a new one.

I don't know if its still available for download, but i'd try Navico's/lowrances website, or call them.

Alternativley ditch Nautic Path and use Navionics (if it's compatible on your model plotter) cos they're better anyway.

Thanks for the info WALLY ,there is an iFinder update on the Lowrance website. It is software revision 1.1.0 but checking mine i have 1.2.0 which i assume is later. 1.1.0 only mentions several small improvements but then it's not going to tell you a lot for commercial reasons.

I checked Navionics , they do do a Gold chart on SD which would work with my machine but it's around £180 , I only paid about £225 for the whole thing so I will pass on this but thank you for the info.
The iFinder screen is not easy to see because of clutter and size at some zoom levels so I might consider buying a new handheld I can read easier.

I have never yet been in a situation where this is critical b ut I will just have to learn n ot to rely on Nauticpaths predictions with any great accuracy.

Thanks again

you could always trade in your old chip, last year they were giving £50.00 trade in
