Does anyone know of any visitor moorings in London that I could use for a few hours to have lunch on Sunday. I’m planning on coming up the Thames from Chatham hopefully if the weathers right., however last time I made the trip I didn’t find anywhere to tie up and the wash worried me on the piers due to only having a 20ft boat.

If not how far non tidal would I have to go to get to a pub for lunch? I could make it a two day trip if it’s worthwile.

Thanks

No distance at all. Go through Teddington Lock,, pay the lock keeper for a night at the Lock moorings, walk over the footbridge and there's are a choice of three excellent places for lunch. The Anglers(a Fullers pub), next door is The Tide End Cottage which is a nice little place and as you stand on the bridge and look to your right you'll see The Weir, which is bit more upmarket.
If you fancy going a little further upstream, a mile and a half up the river is The Boater Inn, which does excellent food and has moorings outside. You'll get into the Anglers and the Tide End, but you may have to book a table at the other two as they get busy.
I recommend staying at the lock moorings and walking along the towpath to the Boaters Inn.

Get it over with.

to not directly answer your question....., carry on to Teddington,
An amazing trip no matter how many times you do it.

Agree with all of the above re: Teddington but it does involve getting an EA licence to only go 50 metres up river. Also, Trotman currently has a slum boat moored long-term just above Teddington Lock on the 24hr moorings with the usual collection of druggy residents and effluent discharge and dodgy Propane Gas cylinders so under the 'blind eye' of the EA it's not an especially nice or safe place for legitimate visitors.

Check out with Hammertons Ferry (Twickenham) and walk to the Swan nearby there or try Teddington Harbour (often seen around these parts) and see if either can provide you with an overnight mooring. It will be cheaper than transiting the lock and you won't have to pay to have squatters for neighbours.

If you're stopping at slack tide, and keep an eye on the boat, you can stop above Richmond without paying for the EA licence. There are riverside pubs!

Consider Chiswick pier, but it's a fair walk to any restaurant, and they may charge you...
