The PLA are running a pre season briefing on board MV Erasmus on the evening of Wed 22 Mar. Can't be all bad it is free and they are providing tea and coffee.

I attended this last Wednesday evening and must say that the cake and the venue exceeded my expectations. the talks by the various Harbour Masters and the owner/skipper of the Dixie Queen [the Venue] were good. Probably the most interesting thing for me was that on the PLA tidal Thames Navigators Club website they feature all the moorings/marinas on the Thames. I have been up to Limehouse a few times but have never thought about breaking the trip, but would do so now that I know there are moorings available along the way.

There was a talk by the St Pancras Cruising Club that bored me as it was long and very detailed and dealt with narrow boaters venturing out amongst the dragons in the tidal Thames. They could have happily left that out as far as I was concenrned and I could have got home an hour earlier.

I would certainly go again just for the free cake and tea.
