tidal flow web sites

I know of several tidal range web sites but what I would really like is one that would show tidal vectors ( maybe animated ? ) that would show the tidal flow direction and strength from a specific date/time to a specific date/time.

( The area I'm interested in is the Solent )

Anyone know whether such a site exists ? I've seen it done for wind predictions but not for tide.

With a bit of work you can create your own ... just scan in a normal tide flow and use a bit of ASP or PHP or even Javascript to show them from a specific time ... not rocket science!
I've done mine in ASP ... give start time, HW time and the tidal flow region you want ... easy!

Have you tried www.winningtides.co.uk ? It's a downloadable (chargeable) program depicting Solent Tidal flow ,graphically. It's very easy to use and you can make print outs for each half hour of tide or run it on an onboard laptop. Great for planning or just to escape an adverse tide.....

I would of thought that an enterprising memeber of this institution could whip something up like this and let us have it for a sensible price,I have trouble turning the PC on never mind getting into the nitty gritty

I have a set of gif files that show the flows round the IOW that I downloaded from a website a few years ago.

I have created something, but as I've used copyright images for them it is not right for me to publish it for the "general public" to use. .....

if anyone has any copyright free images of tidal flows then I'd be happy to make them into an available page....

specify the start time, HW and the which tidal flow area you want and it will display them from the right time with the time range across the top - it isn't complicated and really is no better (or worse) than just writing the time down in the almanac ...
