Hi all, I'm just after a bit of advice with regard to an anchorage for the night in the Tidal Thames.
Does anyone know where is legal / safe / easy to anchor somewhere just downstream of Gravesend?
Ideally, I'll take a proper mooring at Gravesend but its likely to be quite late Saturday when I arrive there so need to keep my options open.

All moorings east of Gravesend are commercial.Doubt anybody will say much if your arrive late and depart early if moored alongside a lighter or whatever.Doubt you will have a comfortable night ,exposed to say the least with mucho wave noise and wash from ships and tugs etc.
Much better( but probably not more comfortable ?) to use the visitor bouys outside the marina at Gravesend or better still go inside for a restful night.

Only other alternative would be to go further on the Holehaven and anchor, but without local knowledge and in darkness, not for me.
Anchoring anywhere in Sea reach would not be advised under any conditions. Other than that, its plod on to Queenborough.

Have used the visitor moorings outside gravesend they can be a bit bumpy.also used the embankment marina, that from memory has an odd tidal window with a slowish boat,ok for carrying on downstream,no good if going up to teddington, you run out of time and tide up top end.
Maybe ask on east coast forum, have read about a town pier, all weather moorings?
Erith or Thurrock yacht clubs nearby also.

OK thanks for that guys.
It was going to be Embankment I head for but just a litte worried that I may arrive after close of play.
I'll give them a call and check if there will be a tidal mooring available should I need it.
Failing that, I guess its just a case of picking a sensible spot away from the channel for a few hours til first light.
