My outboard control lever stands quite high above the coaming of the boat, which gets in the way of the boat cover - my last cover started tearing in this spot as a result.

Would it cause any problems if I leave the lever in gear in full-forward position when storing the boat to keep it from getting in the way of my new cover?

Regards,

Tim.

For sure moving it to " just in gear" is fine. Moving it fully opens the throttle butterfly if that's mechanical. Not if its controlled by a stepper motor but I don't think yours is. This, being pedantic, leaves an airway open and damp/moisture can get in but IMHO that is verging on anally retentive and I wouldn't worry about it. Your engine is Efi afaik so you don't need to worry about a squirt/puddle of petrol in the intake from an old school mechanical throttle pump
