Friday: Marmalade's engine serviced and final sorting out of bits and bobs prior to leaving Neptune for the season. 18 degrees, sunny, shirtsleeve order.

Saturday: No wind to start so motored down the Orwell then sails up and off to Brightlingsea. 10 degrees but great wind and a fine sail. Met up with Flipper, CliveG, Swedish Lass for beers and curry in Kovalam - top evening - hope someone's pics came out.

Sunday: returned to mooring in Blackwater in horizontal snow. Freezing cold (1.5 degrees minus windchill); girls stayed in bed til we got there (no change there then).

Will post pic when I can remember my photobucket log in - think I did the last one at 'work' so must be set up on that PC! Good food and company despite the slow service.

Had a couple of texts from CliveG. They left B'sea at 7am (I felt gentle rocking from my very comfortable pit!) and made Ramsholt about 1pm. Snow was settling on the helmsmans back! I got cold just moving from one pontoon to my normal berth on the other one so you and they must have been freezing.

It's hard to believe you because the only boat I saw going your way up (sic) the Wallet on Saturday from Holland-on-Sea, where SWMBO had taken me for a walk, was a Bav, and an Oyster going the other way. Come to think of it, we were inside during lunch, so maybe it's because I'm a bit jealous (except for the snow).

Don't know what happened to the forecast but we have had nothing but glorious sunshine here all day, got up early to do some more on the boat before the snow arived, and nothing. Shirt sleeves is the order of the day, and now I have another cuppa in hand it's back to work. No snow, rain, wind, or anything like miserable weather. Couldn't be nicer and may even have a BBQ later.

was it a microcosim of costa weather 8 miles up the road from here,Granted it has been absolutely sunny and glorius but its been freezing, that wind would cut you in half /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Call yourself a roughtie toughtie Northerner, that was just a standard Fen blow /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Alright, so I was working away in the barn and not exposed to the elements but the sunshine warmed the inside up so much that it was nice and comfortable in there, not quite warm enough now for a BBQ though /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
Still not a hint of snow yet so we must have just missed it.

im hoping that it will be dry next weekend,im down for hull buffing and gelcoat scratch repair, general clean up and derigg.

its getting close to launch time, looks like the wife and daughter have booked a slot so should be fun,how are you getting on with your repairs? is the end in sight

Just in the process of going over the deck thoroughly to check for any more areas that might need closer investigation, then final sand down, and at long last I can start painting. Just hope I'm not speaking too soon.
Keep me updated with your plans and we'll try and meet up for the launch and anything else we can help with. As said, if you need to use my mooring for a while, you're more than welcome

We were in B'sea by lunchtime - In the morning you'd have seen Sirenia and us in parallel down the wallet - Clive with (in his words) one foot on the beach - us being girly and taking the long way around Colne Bar!

Thought about doing it like that, but decided to use brush and roller as we have done on the birchwood. I'm not exactly an accomplished spray gun user even though I have a couple of spray guns and compressor. I tried to do an old van a few years ago and the end result was absolute rubbish.

It was pretty cold but it ticked one hitherto unchecked box - "have sailed in snow" /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

before you go mad with the roller, let me know when its prepped and ready,no promises but as you know i spray cars for a living and the finish of sprayed paint is sooo much better,if i have time to spare ill come over and blast it
