I have been intending to take a trip on the Tamar for a few years, but reliability issues with our first aging 14' Fletcher meant I didn't want to risk unfamiliar waters. With the 15' Arrowsport proving more reliable, when a friend from the Fletcher Rally offered to host a small weekend gathering taking in Looe and then the Tamar up to Calstock I jumped at the chance! Thank you to Duncan! Another SWFBR regular, Jon and his Dad trekked all the way down from Stoke on Trent making up the group - a 15' a 17' and a 19'. A few transmission gremlins with my car almost put paid to the trip for me, but it held up for the trip towing down from Torbay (and back!).
Saturday was planned for a run out to Looe, but big rolling seas with a choppy top and thoughts of Rame Head in a Westerly persuaded us to head to The Yealm instead. The trip out was lumpy but easily manageable due to long wavelength and good visibility - enabling us to pick a path through. Not without incident as Duncan's seat detached it's fixings with the bashing about! Lunch at Newton Ferrers was followed by a short lived seat repair and an uneventful (equally bumpy) return to Oreston in Plymouth (with Duncan standing). I only managed to bury the bow into one wave, so a relatively dry trip for once...

This was the first outing with the 15' since adding smart tabs to add stern lift and counteract a very bow high attitude when trying to get on the plane. Now transformed and planes easily with a more moderate poise! 21pitch prop is next tweak as over-reving at 36kts... hoping to top 40kts once I can fund a new prop!
