They look like they have come off moorings & washed up there. I guess the first has been there longest as it has least left on it. The sailing boat (a Griffiths design?) has been broken into & looted of valuable stuff, but still plenty to go if it is left there. The last one still has the mooring buoy & engine on it so must have only just arrived, the owner probably doesn't know yet.

The sailing boat is indeed an Eventide24 .

You dont have to go far to see boats like this, just take a walk around some of the more 'rustic' boat yards to see boats which have been brought ashore to be all but forgotten by their owners. This I have always thought very sad, and cast my mind back when I was desperately trying to find my first boat on a tight budget, what I would have done to get my hands on one of these decaying but serviceable little boats. I learned immense amounts about boats restoring one and had great fun at the same time. What a shame that rather than let boats decay and rot, they cant be passed on to deserving new owners.

The deep water moorings in the main channel at Langstone are a feisty place to moor a boat. A huge fetch at high tide and rope will chafe through remarkably quickly. I owned a boat there which broke its mooring twice before I acquired her and once again under my ownership after ripping a cleat from the deck.

It makes me truly appreciate the gentle, sheltered spot I have at the Folly now.

Dylan, if you happen to be back in the area and take a stroll along the road from Southsea Marina up to the Hayling Island ferry (Ferry Point) you will see quite a few abandoned boats of all shapes & sizes on the left hand side. Very sad indeed.
