Bit of an unusual situation, I need a thread sealer that will still seal when in contact with diesel and will not set rock hard. I have a slightly leaking fuel tap which is basically a threaded bolt that is wound up or down to allow the fuel to flow. Only looking for a temp fix for this season as I will replace the tank tap at the end of the season when it has less fuel in it.

Not if you hope still to operate the tap.
577 is slow setting but it does set and lock against rotation.

Agreed, but will likely stop the leak, and won't set so hard the bolt cannot be turned if the tap needs to be closed. Not for such a 'tap' requiring to be regularly operated. For that the OP needs to fix the problem properly.

PTFE and blue Hylomar, for temporary fix, or the stuff mentioned above, and leave the tap open. It's pointless to keep turning off your fuel, it can only lead to problems.
