Were considering, weather permitting doing a week down the west side of the Cherbourg peninsula WC 20th July. My current understanding is that the Bailwick of Gurnsey is currently not open to visiting Yachts. This may change, however if it does not would one be able to anchor off in suitable conditions to overnight and or wait for the appropriate tide. I cant see any obvious advice on the tourist visiting sites and we are interested in any recent experience and or understanding of the anchoring off possibilites in the Gurnsey , Sark, Aldernay islands area. The forums opinion and advice would be interesting and most probably very useful.

I saIled from the Solent last Friday intending to anchor off the Channel Islands. As you get near the CI (3 miles) they raise you on the VHF asking for your intentions. I wanted to anchor off before continuing to N Brittany. I was refused permission so had to carry on. Finally anchored Morlaix River the Saturday lunchtime.
Alternative would be to break the journey up by going into Dielette.

Guernsey and the Isle of Man have an air bridge agreement because there is effectively no COVID-19 in either place, but the Isle of Man is closed to travellers from elsewhere so I expect Guernsey is too.

Guernsey has closed borders and I am not sure they are likely to change in the short term ..it has been CoVid free for many weeks and they plan to keep,it that way.

Jersey opened its border last week and visiting yachts are allowed.

You are required to pre-advise arrival and go to the testiñg centre for a cv test if you want to come ashore. I would imagine just anchoring off in jersey territorial waters would be ok

A number of French boats have turned up over the last few days and in the usual inimitable French way completely ignored the rules

No sanctions against them though it’s possible the port authorities will be tougher with future miscreants

I asked the Alderney harbourmaster if it was possible to break up my June delivery trip from Guernsey -> Poole with a night at anchor in Braye. He was understanding but *really* didn't want to do it so we didn't press him. They will obviously take boats in distress but the residents don't like it. We had specific dispensation from the Bailiwick to self isolate on board and leave at the first reasonable weather window. They are very serious about this stuff and I wouldn't want to end up in a Wickerman personally.
