Before buying bigger or smaller yacht wise the yachtsman should proceed with caution

That is a minor considerationTo have the dilemma of whether to upsize or downsize, one must first own a boat to upsize or downsize from...
Stop faffing around Wansworth.
Go and buy a Twister and live happily ever after.
I have a mountain of branches and trees to convert to firewood this summer ,when it stops raining .plentyof time for pondering…..I see we appreciate the same literature!Or lace up those boots and go for a walk to ponder the question more fully!View attachment 193279View attachment 193280
To be a yachtsman, you either need a boat or to go sailing. Do either apply in your case? If so then you have been showing extreme caution in trying to find the right boat considering your tight constraints of negligible budget, standing head room below, wide side decks for sunbathing, large powerful engine, new sails and rigging, in pristine condition, plus it must have a free walk ashore berth. Before buying bigger or smaller yacht wise the yachtsman should proceed with caution![]()
I have owned or they have owned me .From 15 foot ocean mile eaters to 40 foot gaffschooners,I have given boats away and spent time fixing up old wooden boats building new GRP ones and fitting out a steel one.my desire to buy what will no doubt be my last istempered by experience and other non boaty considerations sometimes the urge is mighty powerful then the wife says “no,Dont like that one”….so back to the fore sale lists, here in Galicia. When the stars align something will turn up !To be a yachtsman, you either need a boat or to go sailing. Under current astrophysical models, by the time you get around to buying a boat the stars will no longer be visible to line up.I have owned or they have owned me .From 15 foot ocean mile eaters to 40 foot gaffschooners,I have given boats away and spent time fixing up old wooden boats building new GRP ones and fitting out a steel one.my desire to buy what will no doubt be my last istempered by experience and other non boaty considerations sometimes the urge is mighty powerful then the wife says “no,Dont like that one”….so back to the fore sale lists, here in Galicia. When the stars align something will turn up !

In light of earlier comments from the OP, might not a B flag be appropriate and, possibly, W as well (for the benefit of all, not just sellers)? In the OP's case, I think he should fly a D flag for the benefit of sellers
As good as twisters are (comment from a biased 2 time Stella owner) I think that one would be too heavy for him. I would suggest something lighter & more modern. Preferably a french design with more room inside & a more open cockpit for starters. Wansy strikes me as being a light weather warm day type sailor & not an offshore long distance heavy weather man.Stop faffing around Wansworth.

As long as it's got an engine that stars that's all he needs. As good as twisters are (comment from a biased 2 time Stella owner) I think that one would be too heavy for him.
