I have been famous for not antifouling my boat for years ..... and also having left her idle for ages ... she got pretty grimy.

So after trucking her over to here and working steady on her through the "off-season" - even at times in temps of -20C etc. - the result is to be seen here ......

and this is where she will be lifted into Saturday ...

So it's bottle of wine ... few beers .... all arranged for 10:00am Latvian time ... BBQ party after ...

Just so happy that all the work has paid off and the old girl looks nice again ... Svet (SWMBO) is all excited as well ... looking forward to trips on river etc.

Excellent .... will make the view out of the bedroom window all that bit more special !!

Phew! Dont know what sort of antifoul you have to use over there, but the growth in your marina looks a bit vicious!

When we lifted her ... she was manky !! But everyone was surprised at the lack of serious fouling considering the years of no AF ... HYCO were concerned at time for hosing off - with the lift an 'all to do. But it came off easy with a single pass of the pressure hose.

Got interesting when the supposed flat-bed truck turned out to be a sided box artic !! HYCO did a great job though ... they quickly rustled up the yard crane to lift her in over the top !!

Then of course we had to get her out at this end !!

An interesting ... but harrowing experience ... It's not often you see your pride and joy 30ft up in the air !!

It's a right B" to keep that grass down ... but engine does best job ... few minutes of engine on full belt soon gets a clear area !!

SA will sit ahead of the pontoon ... with stern moored to it ... I'm thinking to lay a chain across the canal ahead of her with a riser up to a buoy ... then a strop to the boat to hold her of the pontoon .. That way - I can service the cahins easily and no need for sinkers ... as chain span ends are "spiked" into canal bank either side.

bet the crane was cheaper at your end!

25 quid an hour ...

The lift in will have a "Self-loading truck" ... he'll lift on and drive across the garden to the canal. While he does that the crane will be on its way ... and meet at end of canal. Lift of truck and in ...

Truck is 20 quid an hour ....... crane again 25 quid an hour. We reckon total job even if we step mast with the crane is about 70 quid all in.

Piccies will of course be posted later !! I was hoping to Web-cam it but will be a bit difficult ...

What type of boat is she?

The "clean one" is a Sunrider 25 .... built by Searider Yachts Poole in mid 70's. Heavy Motor Sailer. Same hull as Searider 24. Some reckon is fore-runner or basis of original Colvic 26.

The one in the water - Kormoran 550 .... polish lift keel job 5.5m ... was used in Ventspils Marine School during Soviet time.

Super Anne is looking good.I envy your mooring at the bottom of the garden but not the -20°c winters.

What does the little boat sail like. I was anchored in Porlock Bay yestertday waiting for the tide ,wind howling at 6 to 7 with squally gusts.Amazingly 2 perople in a Skipper 17 sailed into the bay then out again and carried on with their passage West. Presumably to Ilfracombe. It got me thinking of the advantages of a seaworthy 17 footer that can live in the garden over the winter and tow behind the family car.

It's a good school boat as its leeway is atrocious ... but its safe .. it skips on the water when pressed rather than falling over. Only problem is sails are so tired that they split at any opportunity ........... am waiting delivery of a replacement set of ebay !

Today SA went in ... with a lot of hassle / problems but she is in !! Just processing photies at moment so hang on a bit and a new thread will be started !!
