I am still up for it - even though no crew. I want to have a beach job Priory Bay with BBQ possibly Tuesday / Wednesday to scrub off - make her at least something presentable ... then its potter about Newport etc.

So see you all out there .....

Ok - its empty now ... but I'm confused as there was only 22 messages in the box ... I've had far more before and still receive !!

Anyway - you can PM me now !

Last weekend, I noticed a few boats carreened at East head inside the entrance to chichester/Hayling Island. A nice sheltered spot, which Priory Bay is not!

East Head is a popular spot - PBOMeet group have do's there at times ...

My priory is to do the scrub off as well - which is easier there ... hard ground so bilge keels stay well up on top !! The area is pretty flat also with a few inches of water running through so cleaning of boat is easy.

Worth noting for future though ...

Yes, I agree East Head is an excellent place to dry out and I am often to be found dried on the beach even when not needing to do any work. Spent two days there a week ago cleaning off, but it was dead neaps and no good for putting the a/f on. I do find that the keels sink in about 6in though, so MY first choice is Priory because, as Nigel says, the beach is much firmer and it's easier to get underneath!. I find the beach very sheltered as long as the wind is in the west.

Biggest problem is interruptions from holidaymakers who have never encountered boats dried out before!

Last time on Priory ....

Group of late teens ... girsl and 1 boy arrived ... set-up beach ball etc. Thought it strange that boy was just one of them and not with any particular lass ... then two lasses kissed ! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Now while that little number was going on .... a guy arrived further along the beach and proceeded to launch a radio control airplane .... /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Further other way couple of stunt kites up ... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

But the one thing that SWMBO remembers is waking up ...(we'd motored round in early hours on tide from Ryde, and then kipped till sun-up) - to see horses being rode along the waters edge ... /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Priory is a place that all sorts can be seen .... and I for one think its great !!! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

There is of course another advantage. At back of beach is a wall that is just right height to put disposable BBQ's on ..... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Re: Horses at Priory ..they\'re the Tide Gauge!

During the season, the horses come through every day (from the camp site with good showers which are according to notice unfortunately only available to campers, though you can use the shop if you want . ) The little shop in St Helens with the PO is better for most things. Half an hour later you know you can walk dryfoot to St Helens without clambering over the rocks or taking the high-level path up the steps and through the woods/boardwalks (muddy right now?).

If you've been going there as long as me you may have noticed that the woman who used to walk her 2 Golden Retrievers every day with her (then) young daughter has now been replaced by just the daughter and 1 young(er) Retriever!

Even had to report an 'incident' to the CG from there .... but that can wait till the rally
