For lack of material I started re reading”RedMainsail” by PeterPye of his vougage to the west indies and back in the early 1950s although he gives no date.Fitting out his 29foot converted fishing boat that he and his wife bought for 25 quid before the war.For their trip they fitted a B.O.T water maker that produced 25 gallons of drinking water from a gallon of paraffin took on 200 fat homes of Italian hemp and a gallon of meths. His account of visiting the SpanishNW coast brought back memories of harboursI had visited but he missed out on ACoruna…..or La Coruna until the Galicians rediscovered their heritage.

Have a few and they are just amazing. Not really old, but Robert Swanns account of bringing a tiddler back across the pond makes fascinating if not terrifying reading. Boat half full of water, knock down after knock down... extraordinary.

I just saw that John Guzzwell has recently passed away aged 94. His Trekka Round the World is a classic, though I read it so long ago I can't remember much about it. John was a remarkably good looking young man:

Must re-read it.

I have just ordered a stash of Maurice Griffiths books to read anew over Christmas. Always enjoyed him.

Doug748…….apparently I am ignoring you.I have no idea why or how to rectify this .Still rest assured Ireadyour posts!

(y) It's quite possible, if your mouse pointer lingers over a forum members name, to do this by accident. Done it myself, sometimes it can stay that way for ages till you notice.
You can also point at the name and unblock someone in the same way.

I have a collection of these, but never heard of this one. Have you the title?
