The Thornycroft T90 is fitted with a manual oil pump which is used to pump out the old oil when it's time to change it. The pipe from this oil pump enters the sump through a nut and a very small amount of oil leaks out around this connection when the engine is running. It is a small amount but I'm concerned that it will get worse so would like to fix it. I've tightened the nut as much as I dare but this has made no difference. Does anyone have any detailed information on this connection and what parts I would need to fix it?
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Kris

Does it seal against a shoulder or on a tapered thread. If its against a shoulder you could fit a dowty washer (steel washer with rubber seal used for hydraulic fittings) or you could use some PTFE tape or some kind of thread sealant.

Good advice from chappers.
It could be any sort of fitting and the only way to tell is to unscrew the whole fitting. You can then see what needs to be done and if necessary change it for something better. Your local (non marine) hydraulic fittings specialist will be able to advise on the best solution.

I'm afraid I don't know, it's hidden underneath an overhang of the engine and very difficult to see or get at. I'm in Southern Brittany and sailing for Gijon tomorrow so don't want to do anything that will put the engine out of action.

We had an extremely simalar issue - the same part on our Perkins M35 - the pipe actually cracked and I was forced to cut if off, and tap the pipe and put a bolt into it. Try going to a plumbers shop and getting high temperature silicon sealant. This will go upto 300oC so fine on an engine and seems to have sealed our oil leak. A small smear around the nut (once the area is clean and dry) may be enough to stop the leak. Failing this, some chemical metal would 'weld' around the nut and should stop it - but very hard to remove this later if you need to.

I've removed the sump in the past. The oil extractor pump is pretty straightforward and the pipe enters the sump from a connection on the side. You can undo the nut and replace the joint inside of it. The oil will not leak from the sump when disconnected (and not running, of course).

For clarity - this discussion was about the oil extraction pump used to deliberately remove oil from the sump. Not the engine oil pump for delivering lubrication to the engine.
