A funny thing happened on my way to...... Not funny in fact, a few minutes bum twitching. Motoring into head wind with around 20 miles to go on a not too friendly coast, SWMBO came up from below reporting a strange sound from the engine. Opening up the engine bay, a strange "tinkling" sound evident at around 2000 revs but quiet at low revs. Couldn't find anything loose and sound appeared to be coming from the rocker box, not good Turned out the engine lifting bracket had sheared off and was resting on the heat exchanger. It was mounted with a single bolt in the middle hole but broke across the top unused hole. Engine has done 370 hours and I guess unfelt vibration has caused fracture across badly designed bracket.
