Thornycroft 108 over heating

hi what would cause my Thornycroft 108 to over heat .i put in back in the water today after winter it was winterize and recommissioned new belts new impller fillters eng and gearbox oils .water coming out of the exhaust but tem dial right over .i let it cool and retried but the tem started to climb am i missing somthing here dont think the new belts are slipping any help thanks dilly

Duff thermostat? Air lock? Temp guage reading wrong?

It could be an indication problem. Could you have disturbed the wiring to the gauge?

Does the gauge go straight to overheating or climb there slowly as the engine warms up ?

Once it happened to me and it turned out the pulley on the pump was slipping on the shaft.
