Maybe a,HLB could not slow down in time to avoid the riverbank.
b/Byron is trying to avoid paying mooring fees.

Just hold tight dear it will not be so rough when we get round the corner, trust me.

Re: This Weekend\'s Puzzle Picture

a) Haydn wouldnt be seen dead on the Thames
b) Byron owns most of the Oxfordshite riverbank so doesnt need to avoid mooring fees !

Re: This Weekend\'s Puzzle Picture

After the extraordinary high tide in early 2001, the Maidenhead and Eton flood relief channel has been opened, has caught a few people out evidently.. Saves a fortune on antifouling though.

no. He is very tightfisted er careful yorkshire/scottish type who has paid to "moor alongside the owners property at ..." BUT his river licence whatsit has lapsed. Therefore, wham/hoik the boat up on the very edge of the garden is still technically "alongside", sort -of.

Re: This Weekend\'s Puzzle Picture

Probably an accurate assessment of the situation.!
I suppose the more interesting question should be........"What happens next?"
(There is little or no chance of a crane from the land side as far as I can see. What chance of a floating crane on th upper Thames with that capability?) Still, at least theres no double yellows !

Re: This Weekend\'s Puzzle Picture

You are assuming that the Maidenhead flood relief is going to work.

Based on previous EA performance, he is probably safe in waiting until the rain starts and it should float off fine.

If the river gets any lower, we will all be in the same situation anyway.

Has anyone seen any WATER to float in around Bray/Windsor recently?

steady...next thing you know, we'll have an inch of rain and won't be able to get in or out of the marina without collecting the bridge en-route.

I know what you mean though - definitely getting difficult to find enough depth for mooring. Briefly thought about lightening boat by removing emergency liquid rations to give some more clearance - then I recovered
