A cracking forecast for the Solent this weekend by the looks of it. Although I imagine it'll be massively crowded am going to be in Newtown Creek overnight on Saturday with teenage son and two of his mates. Will be quite obvious as will be towing a topper too! Say hello if you are about. Apologies for the noise already !!!

Had a crackin' time in Newtown albeit a bit busy. More so being able to whizz up and down the top of Clamerkin lake in my lad's topper. Great barbeque on the beach watching the poor old gaffer who had been aground all afternoon finally free itself.

Went in to Newtown creek about 1300 on Sat, and it was absolutely packed. Once through the entrance it was quite difficult to sneak through all the anchored boats, keeping an eye out for people swimming amongst them. Up the western arm there was little water - about 3m at half tide and since we draw 2m, I didn't fancy hanging around - we beat back to Portsmouth and our quiet mooring there, for a beer in the evening sunshine - idylic. Lovely days sailing.
