Great weather Saturday, leisurely run up to Hambledon and not a Spider or Slug in sight, perfick!

Past NickCred on the way back - he had a boatful.

Looking forward to next weekend when the posse meets at Remenham to play sailors!

We had an early start on saturday to clean the boat (should have been done on friday evening but we got way laid by a few bottles of Bud.)

Then a quick jaunt into Lincoln to stock up on supplies before heading down to Bardney in search of BBQ spot and being joined by the others.

I would tell you about the BBQ, if i could actually remember it!!!

Somehow managed to escape the dreaded hangover, unlike some in the group who where still ill by tea time. So we had a slow run back to burton waters before giving the boat another quick wash in readiness for next weeks trip to Boston.

The river was pretty busy yesterday with a whole range of craft, the most interesting being this steam powered launch.

Pangbourne was the quietest I've seen it on a sunny day, apart from the grass where it appeared like the whole town had come out to play.

Almost got the whole canopy cleaned, if it hadn't rained so hard yesterday morning. No trophy for me next weekend then!

Went down with the intention of cleaning the boat Sunday afternoon. Did a little bit but then a bottle of white wine beckoned and we enjoyed the mooring for an hour or so.

Had the annual fender lifting, or Sailpast as its more correctly known. Had a shaft come back out of the coupling due, I assume, to hitting some of the waterlogged and floating beneath the surface bits of tree. 'Orrible clunk, stiff steering and rapid shutdown of S/H engine. A fellow member went in and confirmed prop nut against rudder. Praise be to the new cradle, up on Sunday, knock the shaft back where it belonged, tighten all up and back in the water again. Time will tell if the shaft seal is damaged or the shaft bent. Prop undamaged.

Thats your retribution for lifting your fenders, dont do it again!!
