I have just this minute heard on TV a uni is sending its pupils home because they are expecting higher tides this weekend than we had in December!

I am aware of spring tides this weekend but I have not heard of a tidal surge so have I missed something?

Pressure is pretty low and we are closer to the equinox, so I guess they could be quite high

The Tidal Coefficient tomorrow pm is 114. It was 108 during the "big tides" in December. So yes, they will be naturally higher but then pressure and surge effects will need to be taken into account.

955 sitting mid-Atlantic with predictions of the bottom falling out of it over the next three days.

The predictions were spot on, I've got this winter gastric bug and it looks like the next three days will be as described :(

It is now 12.30pm - High time. The predicted tide hight for West Mersea was 5.6 metres, but it is only about 4.8 metres. The pressure is 1004 mb and falling a little

The Harwich gauge shows that the tide almost exactly followed the predicted curve, just slightly below, pressure now 1001 and falling slowly.

Ah, but you can't wash the bottom of your car by driving down waterlogged lanes with an inch of water over them drained from the adjoining fields!
Well that`s a may be, out stupid Son managed to hydraulic his car some yrs ago, Unbelievable we tried phoning him not to attempt the ford ( in the highest point in Suffolk) but to no avail £2k up the spout
