I have watched this film several times and there are so many things about it I love.

Nothing much happens - just a lot of poeple turning up to go sailing.

I used to race out of West mersea and have had many happy meetings of old friends on this hammerhead

and more than a few post mortems

I love the enthusiasm shown here....the polite and happy sailors.... all up early in the morning.

I love the way our sport spans the generations - old blokes like me are treated as equals by young people.

As a father I love the young, healthy people and the excellent balance they show as they climb into the boats.

went down the hammerhead today - fraid to say not much action

is that the beast you can hear in the background?

i dont know why you abandoned it in favour of an outboard - and not even a seagull

Aha...

keep up at the back

he beast is till in fine fettle

the gearbox is stuck in fwds - and if a gearbox is going to get stuck anywhere then forwards is the best state to be in

I decided to get an outboard for a back-up and for manoevering around anchorages

I borrowed a 4 hp seagull

used it once and hated what it did to the water

so I now have a borrowed 2hp Honda four stroke

the fact that I now have an outboard with which to threaten the beast means that it has been behaving impeccably since the Honda arrived

but the outboard is a pain in the backside to keen on moving it around the boat

While sailing it lives on the floor of the cabin - at anchor it lives in the cockpit

you are right though - the single cylinder diesel makes a much less annoying noise than the outboard

still great when you can turn it off though

Ah, the usual suspects! Some familiar faces - and not so familiar faces. Who was that man with C....? This video may have unexpected value!

Cadet Week is as much fun:

kids in boats

Cadet Week is as much fun:

my son was a topper sailor

seeing kids completely at home in the water is a great pleasure

watching them come back through the moorings against the retreating tide

missing £30,000 yachts by inches

wonderful

I spotted plenty of shorts and Dubarry combos! I thought East coasters were adamant that sort of plumage was limited to the Cowes/Hamble variety of the species!! :D
