The following shots were taken from the bridge of the Fastcat from Portsmouth to Ryde this afternoon off Ryde sands. Now of course, he could just have decided to stop off and and clean the hull! /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

And a close up!

The sad thing about this, folks, is that David couldn't get close enough to sign him up for a course. /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif (although the FastCat helm did try. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif)

Have you ever seen a grown man cry???? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Had it been anything other than a soapdish,it is possible that the owner may have allowed the boat to dry out for a quick dab of A/F or something similer not possible unless boat out of water.

I did in fact say that - but given the position, it's extremely unlikely! No, I fear this was just a case of "Oops I think we've run aground!! /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif"

I was sailing with a friend on his Foxcub (18 ft, bilge keel, draw about 2ft something) and we touched the bottom at the top of the tide in the middle of the Humber just upstream of the Humber Bridge. We did have a depth sounder and knew where the channel was (well, obviously not) but it does move about a lot on that estuary.
Luckily the mechanical sails pulled us back the way way we'd got in or we'd have been in for a long wait.
Was a few years ago, can't remember his name......
