Sat in a pub near Euston waiting to get a train North. I always dip into the motorboat forum first, it really floats my boat (sorry no pun intended). The others to dry!

The level of knowledge (and humour) is frankly outstanding!

So a thanks to all, from me, for the excellent threads

Now a request, to JFM.....

Please consider writing a book....on boat purchase/ownership/selling. Perhaps with a guest chapter on cruising by Henry, and a refurb section by Vas and JTB

Back to my pint of LPA...But once again thanks for the entertainment and top class information and advice
We are very lucky to have such knowledgeable contributors

if jfm started writing books about boating rather than his proper job I'm not sure there would be a match 3...

Haha!
This forum IS the book though, written by everyone. It just needs a few upgrades imho:
(a) thread titles that make sense as titles, not that make sense only AFTER you have read the thread
(b) a decent search function
(c) removal of the picture limit, or increase the limit to 100 pictures per post
(d) deletion of dead stickies, and creation of a stickied thread that contains links to cruise reports. Ideally just one post in that whole thread owned by a volunteer on here, constantly edit-updated by adding more and more links to the cruise report posts, all identified by the name of the place cruised of course. Someone did do this but the mods won't sticky it, and in combination with (b) above it has got lost. You gotta remember that the biggest level of personal effort by posters on here, Vas's awesome rebuild aside, is probably in the trip/cruise reports and it is a huge waste of that personal effort for these posts just to get lost so soon after they are written - it's verging on criminal in my book. Mods, would you agree to sticky such a thread?

If the mods sticky it, then I'll volunteer to maintain it (unless somebody else has a pressing desire for the job...).

I don't think it would get used FP. Stuff needs to be on this forum. It's the old different conversations in different pubs or all in the same pub thing. All IMHO only - I think other posters go into all the pubs on this site often. I do agree about inappropriate stickies though. Current stickies 2 and 3 shouldn't be there.

Yep agreed stickie the topic threads, eg:

Rebuilds In Wood by VAS "my staple gun and me"
Rebuilds in Grp by JTB "platform and heels"
Newboat purchase by JFM "made in Essex........the scatter cushion years"
Cruising by HenryF "never knowingly underfed"
Boats and Cycling by oGaryO "fat bottom girls"

Anyhow possibly different thread titles :) but you get the idea!

Just to add my vote for a 'cruise report' -sticky. I love reading them and it would be very nice to be able to easily find and re-read the old ones. Google isn't always that helpful with loads of results if you don't remember the right combination of words to find what you're looking for. With JtB volunteering it sounds like we have a solution, all we need is the sticky! Maybe the new mod will pick this up.

To me it doesn't matter if the trip is halfway around the world or just a day cruise, I love reading them, and seeing the pics, all the same.

I'd also like to see the rating (1 to 5 stars) being replaced by a 'like' -button AND a way to view the trending topics. There are a couple of other things that could be picked up from the social media -sites, but I don't want to be rocking the boat too much :).
