Was out on the Blackwater today and had a fantastic sail in a good F5, possibly F6 some of the time. I saw a yacht well aground on Thirslet spit at around 11:30. Could not raise anybody on the boat on VHF but Thames CG picked up my calls to the boat and requested details.

The yacht was called "Mercury" and was hard aground with more than 3 hours to go before LW - Woops! I wondered whether the boat had lost its mooring at Stone or Marconi but it had no sail cover on so I concluded it had gone aground under sail. By 12:30 the yacht was lying on the dried out spit. Has anybody got any news on the boat?
