I was told not to say anything about the third Test for fear of upsetting all the Poms..
So let me tell you last saturday's race was a beauty... 174 starters in O/cast conditions ,very lumpy seas and strong winds.... resulted in 3 broken masts and 2 torn mains.
Today I played golf in 34 *C heat.. must admit I was a bit buggered by the 18th....
What were you all doing ?

OK Brian, I owe you two extra cold tinnies, you name the place and I'll name the time. I am sick of hearing it bleated out on the radio day in, day out, when our true sports champions receive scant recognition.

Anyway, at least we trounced you in the one that really counts, RUGBY!!

Saturday, played golf in the pouring rain, at least the greens were in great nick for the time of year and the ball would actually stop on them, unlike the concrete Melbourne ones!!

Checked to see that the boat had not blown off its props and then did some rewiring.
Watched a programme about buying property around Noosa but wife not interested. Awake all last night listening to the roof tiles bouncing in the gales. Must check the boat again soon.
BTW the cricket is a joke over here too. Especially when we run out our only decent batsman.

Re: Home truths

Brian

You really know how to endure yourself to us Brits don’t you!!!! Just because its your summer and you have had a minor success over us Poms. What about the rugby then?
OK I admit that it’s not going to be very long before our rugby team are scoring more than the entire English cricket team, but HEY that’s life!
As for nice weather, we’ve got 8 degs P**ing with rain and blowing dogs off chains but then us Brits have always had stronger backbones than our antipodean friends<s>.
I’m surprised that you are still here because I thought that most of the East coast of Aussie had gone up in smoke?
Question: You got any contact with Sydney Flying Squadron?

At least we should have some chance in the Rugby World Cup!. I think the English cricketers are in the West Indies next winter. Any sailing cricket fans organising a charter?

Re: Home truths

Sorry cannot help with the Flying Squadron.. probably Royal Sydney or the Cruising Yacht Club would help you. If they cannot then come back to me and I will try a few e- mails
Yes those fires are S.... house. To date we have been spared any major ones , (in Melbourne) but are sitting on a knifes edge waiting for it to hapen. It just hasn't rained for so long that all the undergrowth is so dry. It will go of like a bomb.

Cannot comment on Rugby.. do we play that ????? cetainly not in the southern part of OZ. Think they have a few teams in NSW and QLD

David .. here is the deal.
Its unlikely I will ever return to the UK.. not sure about your movements. If you ever look like coming out then You will have to pay me in full ( with interest.. at my Club)
So I suggest Boxing Day as "payoff day . ( first substitute) You go to your Club or sit with friends or family.. do what ever you would normally do. BUT open two tinnies and drink them.
I wil start the Big Bay races and the Mel/ Hbt.. Mel /Dvp races so should be ashore by lunchtime. I will lean on the bar at RMYS and order two pots.. then drink your health
Agree ?

Michael.. Noosa is a great place , however a bit expensive. There are some equally good areas less expensive around Noosa.. either furher north or south we also can do a deal on second hand wives or originals . !!!! but dont tell your wife I said that.

The reason for asking about SFS is that every 3-4 years we have a racing match. We go to Oz and they beat the s**t out of us then they come over to us and beat the s**t out of us again. System seems to be a bit lopsided at the moment but we always win the drinking contest afterwards.

I hope that you dont get yur butt BBQed in all that dry weather?
best regards
