If you are thinking of getting a digital camera or upgrading then the new Sony DSC P10 with 5 megapixels is fantastic. I have a number of cameras including their F707, but find this one superb. I have put a link in below to show you the camera at Jessops, if you PM me I will let you know how to get it £100 cheaper in the high street /forums/images/icons/wink.gif So you will get it for £345 instead of £445.

<A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.jessops.com/search/viewproduct.cfm?PRODUCT=SONDSCP10&BRAND=&CONTINUE=false&FEATS=&FIRSTPRICE=&KEYWORD=&LEVEL=&MODELNUMBER=&NEWQUERY=True&NODE=0&NODE_PATH=0&ORD=ASC&ORDERBY=&QUANTITY=10&RECENT=0&REFINE=&SEARCH_FOR=p10&SEARCHNODE=0&SEARCHURL=dointellisearch.cfm&SECONDPRICE=&SHOWCASEID=&STARTROW=1&SUBS=&WORD_SEARCH=Y&>camera</A>

Sony use memory sticks, and have now introduced sticks with greater storage, they have a 256mb one that has two 128mb section in it, it requires you to take it out and move a small switch to give you the other 128mb, useful for separating vidoes from stills. These sticks are £149 but PM me if you want to know where to get them for £50. The high megapixel cameras are good, 3.2 megapixels will give you a pretty good A4 size print, 5 megapixel is the icing on the top, anything more is really not required for normal use. The only proble you have is the more pixels, the more memory it uses, therefore a decent storage/memory stick memory is essential.

Don't be shy PM today /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

I do hope this will be of interest to someone out there.

P.S. I have no connection with Sony or the retailers of the equipment, just trying to help and share with a good deal I found /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Thanks, all sorted! You may want to reduce the length of your example to bring the thread closer now. Thanks for the help /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

P.S. How much did your mate pay for the 3.2 megapixel? I have the Sony P5 which is about a year old now that is 3.2 and is very good as well.

I'll have to check. He is one of my Philippino crew, and he got it with his air miles from Lufthansa.

I have just got your very exhaustive pics of how to strap airtanks to a diving jacket so the camera must be fine.

I suppose you would also recommend keeping the camera with you too - and not taking a lot of pix and then leaving it on the boat 1000 miles away, like i did?

Don't worry, I was just interested to know, I guess Jessops have a price for the 3.2 which I think is now called the DSC P8.

I do know that even in the duty free the P10 is over £400 as I saw it in Dixons on the way to France last week /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

****Bargain ALERT****

Just checked Dixons online price it is on special at £351, so for those that don't trust me here is your chance to get a world beater small camera. I can still help with the memory sticks though if you want.

see :- http://www.dixons.co.uk/martprd/store/dix_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1379793523.1060423094@@@@&BV_EngineID=cccgadcilmlkeghcflgceggdhhmdfif.0&page=SimpleSearchProducts&low_bound=0&up_bound=0&criterion=p10&AtimeStamp=3237863530]Bargain Alert

Sorry H00 need another lesson in getting this link shrunk, it has half one it, showing the name Bargain alert at the end /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

As i said, he got his with air miles but in the Lufthansa price list of 2 months ago it was €549. So not a bargain for a P8.

I wonder what is the point of 5 mega pixels. Mostly i find we are computer-viewing the pics or emailing them about, so we want much less resolution.....

Anyway, I use the Fuji Finepix camera and can confirm following an inpromptu test carried out last week that it stops working completely if you take it on a rented jetski and splash a lot of saltwater on it. So I need to buy a new one today. Might try this Sony stuff

Looks great, nice sleek look, weighs 2 kilo's, well known brand for warranty if required, fit's neatly in a Lada glove box, plenty of spares if required and if hand delivered to China, well known memory cards, can get them even cheaper than the special deal of Sony 256mb for £50, Wow! but I won't be russian out to get one now, but may pick one up with my chinky tonight /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Just a bit of sport, of course you buy what you want, but let's face it you get what you pay for in certain cicumstances, and with camera lenses, that is mostly true. BUT if you are an old codger and can't see bu&&er all, then what's the point, may as well go chinky, or even get a throw away one /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Thanks for your input for the raggies though /forums/images/icons/wink.gif
