Can anyone tell which is best marina to stay at?

I like Fox's, nice club too, but the ABP one and Neptune are more convenient for the town.

Thanks for that. Are there any special navigational points I should know in Ipswich itself. Almanac says something about restrictions when water above 4.6 m. but cant see anything on charts?

The best choice if you want to do some shopping, without relying on transport, is NEPTUNE.
It is situated less then 5 minute walk from the town centre, with restaurants and bars all on the waterfront.
It's a lock-in and lock-out marina, but very simple to navigate.

With more tide than this, the lock gates stay shut to stop the sea washing the biros out of the pound shop..
Call Ipswich lock on 68 after passing under the bridge if you want to lock in. Fox's if you dont like the lock is a bus ride from the town centre and take any of the Shotley buses back to Wherstead.
Call Neptune or Haven on 80 and you'll almost certainly get a berth unless a bank holiday.
