Wherever you go don't be tempted by the dark side, the East coast mudpluggers. That lot with odes to mud, smelly creeks and dirty water will do anything to get another lost soul to join them.

Typical East coast marina

Best of luck with your search, you are central enough to quite a few places.

Absolutely right. East Coast at it's best, I would say. Also don't bother with all that radio check crap. There's no-one here.

I wouldn't be here except the boat likes it and the wife is confident I won't be going far because of all the mudbanks.

Olympic Yacht yard...

...or Kalamaki Marina or Glyffada, Athens. Both half the price of UK south coast marinas and within three hours of Luton by EasyJet very cheaply.

Then your weekend destinations can be:-

Aegina, Hydra, Ermione, Porto Heli, Astrous and as to getting a week free! Well, the Cyclades, Navplion(the old Greek capital), Through the Corinth canal to the Ionian, The Med is your oyster.

You can trail a boat that size to Venice (12 hours driving without a trailer but not much more with IMO) and sail it down the Adriatic. This can be done in stages as flights are available from Trieste, Ancona, Pula, Bari, Brindisi all with cut-price airlines

Definately does not want to get involved in the E. Coast scene. Not at all suitable for normal persons of S.Coast experience, you wouldn't have anywhere to spend any filthy lucre. You would'nt be able to blag about your marina cost's. You might find some only 1/2 decent sailmakers & frankly the food! & Ale probably wouldn't suit the palate. Sailing with a couple of inches under the keel wouldn't do the stress level's any good at all. Besides which the M11/A12 couldn't take the extra traffic!.The Blackwater/ Colne/Orwell/Stour/Deben/ Alde/Crouch/Walton Backwaters are just mere dribblings of rancid, muddy water. You only have to look at the Posts made by the E.Coast contingent to see that we are seriously challenged.

Just like to point out Chris that the picture you are showing is in fact one of the better kept East Coast Marinas.

Certainly not an area to be sailed by ANYONE from the South Coast...thank god, that much!!!

(fortunately for Tom, Peppermint originated on the East Coast, so she will always be welcome back home!! )

Re: Right then

I think Claysie'll come up with something to keep you away from the W Coast of Scotland...
