By pushing everyone up a band or two

By pushing everyone up a band or two it will raise council tax income without any seen increase in the actual bands. You could say another Labour way of double a tax by stealth. F##cking B##tards.

But surely...

...that is exactly how Mr B.Liar has operated in the past, and no doubt will continue to operate in the future.

If you tax by stealth no one cares, if you make big announcements of 2p on a pint, a 1p a litre on petrol everyone is up in arms.

Mr Cholmondley Warner of the selected surveying practice wanders round and says "Your house is now worth £300,000 and will now be in council tax band S" the great british public will all be chuffed as nuts as their house has gone up in value AND it has been confirmed by the governments representative!

As David says F*****G B******S!

Re: But surely...

After the last revaluation I built a large extention on my house but before doing so enquired about the rates only to be told "don't worry, the property will not be revalued until you sell it". Now I am looking at jumping 2 tax bands.

I disagree with the property tax and consider the community charge (aka poll tax) a fairer way to go. At least every one over 18 pays something towards the community and people who try to better their own living standards by extending existing property or buying bigger property are not penalised. In Scotland the community charge failed because the councils (labour controlled) failed to collect the charges. I heard somewhere that Glasgow council are still owed hundreds of millions in uncollected community charges. Why could they not arrest wages or social security payments etc..

What we need is mass refusal to pay rates (and TV licences) until a sensible, fair system and level is established and council money wasting is addressed.
