When on extended passages what silly things do you realise you don't have on board?
Mine-
spare shoe laces
sewing kit
batteries for torches etc
12v iron
Spare watch
more towels than you need
phone book
Sure there must be plenty more.

No mention of an anvil either I've always wanted one but just seem to forget to pack the darn thing!

We do have an iron on board, but it was purchased by a friend who is into model sailplanes and he needed it to do the wing covers on his plane that we built whilst waiting for sails to be repaired.

A 12volt soldering iron is essential kit if/for when the gas one runs out of gas

The gas one is better but gas always dicipates and soldering in a storm is a nightmare....whats wrong with phone book....if i lost my mob over the side i would lose all nav stuff and contacts.
Think the others thought clothes iron, can't even remember when i last used one.
