Yes it's four full tax years, and that's precisely how long we had to wait. You can check that with an accountant who specialises in Not Dom and Not Res. Antrobus is the one we used:

Again - anything to back that up? Your accountants really told you to wait 4 years before becoming non resident? Sounds nuts.

The revenue never mentioned anything like that when I was speaking to them , though nearly a decade ago now. I was non resident anywhere for 5 years. No problem, just pay UK tax on any income arising in the UK. And meet the criteria.
