One for the smug gits on this board.

On Tuesday my bike and I parted company on a bend in deepest Dorset. I've spent the last couple of days being patched up by the NHS.

Much soothing of SWMBO needed over Christmas if biking career is to continue.

Bike, by the way is in much better nick than owner; something to do with age - possibly!

Sorry to hear this JJ.

I was given a firm NO to a bike and had to settle for a vintage tractor.

Hope it's only the pride that you've hurt?
Best wishes
Tom

Sorry to hear it, James.
The roads are one slippery mess around here too - I had a foot down last week and only came out vertical by sheer luck.
Haven't told her yet - never a good idea to give them any more ammunition.
I hope wounds and pride soon healed.
Happy Christmas.

I well remember the thoughts that flash through the mind immediately before you hit the deck!
I always reckon you can age a motorcyclist by these thoughts eg
When young it is "Hope the bike will be OK"
Then there is "She is going to kill me"
Older riders think "Hope it won't hurt too much"

You should try trail riding......
Usually a soft landing!

Merry Christmas Briani

i was offered a test drive of a pan european by honda about 10 years ago. i'd always ridden big triumphs and BSAs (ineffective drum brakes). someone stepped off the kerb as i was going round a roundabout - one touch of the brakes, wheels lock and i'm sitting in the road feeling foolish.

the bike suffered only scratches to the bottom of the pannier and tipped over no more than 45 degrees.

Ouch, will try not to make you laugh.

We had a casualty with 5 broken ribs on a x-channel trip and he was in some discomfort, to put it mildly. It took a lot of careful handling to dismantle the saloon table and stretcher him out when we reached Cherbourg. Good news was that the ribs healed in about a week or so. You'll need to watch your collarbone in future!

Chin up, it could have been worse. What colour are the new leathers?

I always made myself a rule not to play with it while riding.

James, sorry to hear of the spill and hope you will soon be feeling better. Have a good Christmas, but I fear "bah humbug" may prove to be more comfortable than "ho, ho, ho" this year.

Got a Fireblade RR in the garage that hasn't been out for a couple of years. Recovered by plod but in ace nick after it was missing for 18 months, cheeky begger riding it is trying to sue me to get it back, says he's the victim! Fancy wheelying that past the front window for her christmas day just for a laugh?

Hope you have a speedy recovery so don't try to do too much washing up over the next week or so.
Puts me to shame as I fell off my pushbike at a roundabout last week - felt a right prat. Injuries not quite as severe as yours - just had to go and buy a new pair of jeans. No, no, not because of that - they were scuffed through at the knee/forums/images/icons/smile.gif - honest.

You have my total sympathy, not just for the spill and damage, but also for all the ammunition you have provided SWMBO next time it comes to renewing insurance/tax/MOT. For some reason my SWMBO is always trying to get me to give it up (BMW K100RS)
