I am having problems with the porta potti 365 (I think) that we use on board.

Something seems to be growing in the fresh water flushing system. It manifest itself as black bits when the flush is used. We do use the Pink additive.

I remember seeing a thread regarding this in a caravan forum but can't find it now, does anyone have a link?

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Does anyone know the solution to the problem?

Thanks

David

My 345 doesn't have that problem but following a thread from a few years ago I don't use the pink stuff and fill the "fresh" tank with water out of the Creek. Either may be the solution to your problem. You're welcome to a bucket of our water if it might help.

I fixed this by flushing the tank with a bleach solution but later discovered that Thetford sell Toilet Water Tank Cleaner.

Best to use something like this at layup otherwise next spring you will discover that the black algae will have grown over winter.

It is annoying that the pink stuff doesn't have an inhibitor in it.

Footnote.

It is V. annoying that the pink stuff does not have the additive in it.

Presumably the wash is available from caravan shops.

What concentration of bleach did you use? I don't want to damage any of the seals.

I have just had similar in our dishwasher which was not heating/drying properly. (No we do not have one onboard a 23ft boat with 12V battery and 10Watt sloar panel + outboard charge coil for power, so don't ask how we do it!!!)
