A brisk NE'ly put paid to getting out of Emsworth- there was barely 6ft over the sill against the predicted 7ft 4in at HW so no way out without explosives

The boat is awesome and has every toy known to man - wall to wall flat screen TVs which elevate out of recesses in every cabin, bow and stern thrusters. I even had a crawl around the engine room. Fabulous joinery and a heating system which had us stripping jackets every time we went below

Had a play with the radios (bravely entered the MMSI number) and depth sounders, the Raymarine E series displays flybridge and nav station, the iPod you name it.

As for the man himself, great fun and dare I say it a laid-back skipper to boot, surprising given his ordeal in getting the boat commissioned. Mrs Gludy petite, pretty, charming and great fun also.

A good morning messing about with boats for andyball and self, even if the tide had the last laugh

Yes - I confirm I do exist and that the rumours about me being some sort of auto responder piece of software are unfounded!!

I would like to thank both yourself and Andy for helping so much over the weekend and can assure you both that you are now part of the Ocean Deep cruising club.

For the benefit of the forum members understanding that, I am having some signifcant problems attempting to get my boat commissioned after 4 months and Tom and Andy were a great help in progressing that matter over the weekend.

I take it the brokers didn't ship enough water in for you to get out then /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif bummer ... still at least the weekend wasn't a total write off.

about 16" less water than predicted due to strong winds with an N in them & highish pressure. Hey ho.

I don't know why Gludy's moaning on here -

think tarquin have a new owners club for Support, Help, Information on Traders. They should sort him out -. there's a special 'just bought a trader' stress-busting weekend in April, w relaxation classes, anger management tips & advice on chartering a boat while yours isn't ready. Sounds just the ticket.

I reckon you can spot a new trader owner a mile off, anyhow - for a start they won't be out on the water, & mumble incessantly about cancelled trips & vibration & such. Strange look in the eyes too - scary.

Should've run the watermaker overnight then! /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

doh!

we didn't think of that.

Tom had a go Canute style - telling the tide to stay back; sadly he didn't get the same result as the old King did at Bosham. Next time it's a quick visit to the army on Thorney Island & see if they haven't got something to remove the cill.

Na - thats too complex - just ask to borrow 50 squaddies to lift the boat ... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

hmmm - think you'd better join the ODCC too. It needs people like you who can think outside the box.

Oi! ODCC is the official designation of the Oxford Ditch Cruising Club. Their handbook reads....

'1953 was a significant year in the history of our country. Amongst the notable events of that year were the Coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 2, the conquest of Everest by Sir Edmund Hilary and Sherpa Tensing, Roger Bannister broke the 4 minute mile and England won the Ashes for the first time in 21 years. Most importantly, the ODCC was founded'

Several of the harder ODCC members are forumites here abouts and have been known to turn nasty. So Johnnie-come-latelies had better watch it /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

you can keep quiet & go back to yer pancake houses & clog wearing & fuel guzzling boat.

we'll be the ODCC(southern) - is that alright? /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I see your bio includes the description 'Dutch Steel Plodder' Is that you or the boat? /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Don't 'spose you will see many 'oceans' as such but revised name will have to do!
