I've come to the conclusion that I'm in the wrong business having seen the post on electronics fit out for a Princess 67. I seem to remember the odd debate here about whether to have a PC or a chartplotter. Well, chummy is going for 4 chartplotters two upper deck two lower deck and enough electronics to fly to the moon and back.

I'm only jealous really.

It's getting to the point where someone in a flash yacht is going to plug their boat into a marina outlet after a day at sea, and all the other lights will go out.

These things are ships not boats, bit like minesweepers or fast patrol boats with frilly curtains. Thing is on a minesweeper/patrol boat, there are engineers, electricians and electronic specialists ready and waiting... rather than 'pass the screwdriver Mavis, I think I know what it is'!

Like the descripton. MrsE is especially envious of the table lamps and strategically placed vases of flowers.

Seriously, though I'd guess with that many gizmos on board, at least one would not be working at any one time. Was talking to the owner of a new 60 footer last weekend who had had his frisge replaced six times in 2 years and was still under warranty as a result. That might have been a Princess as well.

Does that mean you can get them with a 20mm fitted to the foredeck? Could be useful for dealing with racing dinghies!

Dinghy zappers

Probably have torpedo tubes as standard build, disguised as bow thrusters for that very purpose. Twin PWCs in the boot of course in his'n'hers colours of pink and er....pink. The bullseye painted on the stern deck isn't a target for seagulls like on us raggies it's the helo landing pad - they need that so the engineers can drop in when required, summoned via the satphone of course.

Re: Dinghy zappers

SWMBO used to work for a company shipping airfreight, not like DHL, more like rent a whole aircraft to shift big stuff!!

They once had an enquiry to move a Sunseeker (can't rember how big but was about 40 - 50 ft) from Poole to somewhere in the Middle East. The enquiry came via an agent, so it was never known WHO it was for, all very secret; however the Sunseeker was going to be the TENDER for the principal (motor) yacht!!!

Re: Dinghy zappers

Just walking into town (Southampton) at lunchtime, there's one of those MoBo carrying ships in the dock. There's only three on the deck but the middle one is probably worth more than the ship that's carrying it! Doesn't look like a Sunseeker though.

You're all making an assumption - that it ever leaves the Marina! Talking to staff at a South coast marina when boat hunting , they said that almost none of their serried ranks of TTT's (tupperware tart traps) ever goes out. They are really waterside cottages quite a bit cheaper than the real thing.

<hr width=100% size=1>this post is a personal opinion, and you should not base your actions on it.

Re: Dinghy zappers

When I did some training at Warsash a few years back, they thought that at least one of the big corporate-owned MoBos over at the big marina had been delivered without propellers, 'cos it would never need them and it saved money!

Re: Dinghy zappers

Dead right, often they are delivered with concrete balast instead of engines. But then if the object is to live on the thing then the larger power boats do make sense, they do have lots of room when compared to a similar length yacht.
