Following up a December post.

I have bought a roaming tariff and today, finally, (3 months after signing the contract) picked up the final piece of the puzzle to what now I believe is a great product.

Research on many other networks offered deals but nothing came close to EE ROAMING for what I needed as acrew on board yachts in the med.

The contract to consider top of the pile

£49 for iPhone 5 £41 24 month unlimited voice, unlimited Text (750mb UK data only) roaming package from EE.

You get free calls to the UK from the UK,Europe and a long list of Zone A countries (including USA,Croatia,Turkey) Also Euro/zone A +44 to Euro/zone A +44 numbers is included.

You get free calls to local mumbers while travelling in those countries, so you can call that taxi to the airport or marina from your handset without being charged. (This voids the need to buy a local SIM for voice and text)
You get a massively discounted rate on DATA eg in Croatia 100mb for £2, making the need for DATA SIMs irrelevent unless you plan major Youtube nights in.

For visiting countries like Montenegro, you can buy as an example 120mins call mins to UK mobiles while in that country and a 250 text bundle.

The best bit is you get a free UK BASED (150) customer service (not included with PAYG, using local SIMS)

What is NOT included is cross country calling to foreign numbers. Example calling ENWA in Sweden on +46 was not included but due to a system glitch i was not charged when calling from Croatia. GREAT.

To give a bit of balance,

Vodafone offer a £3 per day deal to use your minutes/texts/data abroad in selected countries on any contract with them

O2 - £32 with unlimited mins text and 1gb UK DATA free iphone 5
O2 offer a £1.99 add on for data 25/50mb of data and a free Euro traveller bundle for allowing you to make calls locally for 50p connection charge upto an hour 35p per minute thereafter. If you dont travel much in Europe then i found this to be the best deal, i bought my mother the iPhone 5 and this deal.

Network 3 -if you have been with THREE for a few years call them up and find out what loyalty credits you have bulit up. I helped out someone who appeared to have bought the wrong deal for using a phone abroad but turned out he had £81 worth of calling credit to local numbers including UK based chargeable numbers 0870 for using from anywhere. He calls the Caribbean on this contract using this built up credit. Just a case of finding out the calling costs between phones.

If your with ORANGE or Tmobile upgrade to EE roaming

Anyway, if your interested this is what I found it took ages in research. Only today did i notice that local calls were not charged on my bill, i called up expecting to be told of another glitch when i actually have a voice recording from EE telling me something different.

Enjoy, next year it will be free anyway, but to save you time and hassle this year get invloved, oh and if you have ever got a roaming bill of xxx for a call or two or been told 'you have used x amount of Data at £2.99 per mb. Get EE they dont allow you to over spend , finally sense.

Sounds great James,if you are at that level of spend. I'm in Zeeland where there are no public phone boxes, and the only way to e nhance my cheap UK Tmobile contract is by sending a text,to get temporary NL mobile connection. Just wanted to say hello to my old mum. But I can't txt because I have no coverage! Moral of story, sort it before you leave the England!

Tks for posting that James. Sounds just what we need.

Took a gander at their site but cant find any thing that says:
£41 24 month unlimited voice, unlimited Text (750mb UK data only) roaming package from EE.

Can you give me a pointer please.
