I was fastening down all of the canvasas on our Selaine F33 and the wind got hold of one of the side covers and blew it into the drink. I then frantically tried to get to it before it sunk but I was too slow and it disappeared!
Do cover makers have "paterns" from which they can work, or do they need the originlal cover from which they can create a new one?

The trouble is the wind was blowing so hard( 40mph) I have no real idea where it's gone!
I've notified the harbour authority theat its possible that somehting might surface and if it does, it's mine. The other concern is that it could easily get antangled in the gear of a passing boat if it does come to the surface.

Is the cover for the other side of the boat the same shape? And where were you when you lost it?

The cover for the other side is the same shape but of course it's the mirror image of the one I lost. I guess the makers might be abvle to make a rough pattern from the one I still have nad then make any final ajustemnts whilst on the boat.
I lost it on the River Dart - in the Ditisham area.

Contact Sealine. They have the original templates.
I've had covers from them and taken them to Spain and had the poppers put on there. When their stuff was made by Fibretrim (Sealine owned but now absorbed into their Kidderminster plant) it was well priced.

The same thing happened to me earlier this year. I had just laid it on the pontoon to wash it off before treating it with Fabsil, turned around to grab some equipment and when I turned back it was gone, only seconds later. Never did get it back despite cruising around the marina in the tender for ages.

Rang up a local covers company, and they came and took measurements from the other side cover, and I had a new side cover by the end of the week. £150 - job done.

You made it back from the C.I. Ok then?

Which day did you come pick in the end?

Yes indeed - we cam back very early on Friday morning - early for us anyway , we left at 6.00am and arrived back into Dartmouth just before 10am.
The conditions were fine once we cleared the north east corner of Guernsey but till then it looked like we could be in for an uncorfortable trip.
Once we had Guernsey behind us the conditions settled down and the sun even came out about half way accross.

Look out for a lump of blue canvass floating on the Dart - it may cause some problems if it is caught up in the shaft/leg of you boat.
